Victim Help Desk
Our experience is that ‘Victim’ and his dependent primarily get victimized by offense. Secondly the impact of offense on the life of dependent aggravates on the basis of gender, social class, literacy, religious or political affiliations, socio-economic & cultural factors. The situation is further worsening with unequal opportunities and unequal access to available resources.
Our finding is that the victim lack in information and awareness about various Governmental and Non-governmental support services and schemes which can be available for his immediate and final rehabilitation.
Therefore to address this issue professionally on experimental basis we established 'Victim Help Desk'
The Social worker attends Victim Support Desk on every Saturday at Assegaon Purna Police station, Amravati district. The Social worker at police station or on phone call (as the case may be) help needy victim and family answering queries, giving information for smooth navigation in Criminal Justice System, helping to handle trauma and difficulties post-crime, socio-legal guidance, support services for restoration, and follow-up at police station, court and crime prevention. It acts as bridge between Criminal Justice System and the victim, offering support and information regarding the case status, role and rights within the Criminal Justice System.
