DISHA is registered voluntary organization working for rights and restoration of victim of violent crimes (Homicide, Domestic Violence and Sexual assault) since 2009 in Maharashtra. Founded in 2008 in Amravati, now DISHA has established its work in Pune, Amravati & Yavatmal – the districts having yearly incidences of I.P.C. crime above 6000 (Crime in Maharashtra report – 2016).
DISHA was started with the motto of helping the victims of violent crimes to get acknowledged as an entity deserving rights of rehabilitation and better representation in court of law, leading to actual implementation of their rights and holistic rehabilitation.
Accordingly DISHA is currently heading two projects – ‘Rehabilitation of Crime Victim’ in partnership with TATA Trusts and ‘Mobile Help Desk at Police Station’ with Forbes Marshall Foundation. We also run a community center since 2012 in slum pocket of Wadali, Amravati for protection and empowerment of vulnerable children – with entire support from volunteers and donors.
